NAD-ACF Update from Ron Pickell

ACF Update

Brief History:

After many gatherings of students and campus ministry leaders over some 20 years of loosely organized campus ministry efforts, Adventist Christian Fellowship was born and officially voted as a recognized campus ministry initiative of the North American Division on September 21, 2005. ACF/NAD was created to:

  • Build Christian fellowship chapters on public campuses that honor God and nurture the spiritual lives of students in North America.
  • Engage students in the mission of the Church through relational evangelism and Christ-like student fellowships.
  • Empower local ACF chapters, churches and sponsors through pastoral support, professional training and access to resources.

Ronald Pickell was officially invited to serve as the first Coordinator of ACF on November 21, 2005. Ron has had a long history with ministry on public campuses beginning with spending a quarter of his seminary experience in specialized campus ministry training in Southern California. Ron’s next campus ministry position was serving as director of Advent House at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and later as campus ministry Coordinator for the Georgia Cumberland Conference a position he held from 1985 - 2001. Presently Ron is pastor of the Berkeley Seventh-day Adventist church and chaplain for Adventist Christian Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley.
